Understanding a Refusal Letter Before You Reapply
By Michael Wilson, RCIC · Published September 8, 2026 · Last updated September 8, 2026 · 5 min read
A refusal letter usually states the grounds on which an officer was not satisfied. These may relate to eligibility, missing documents, credibility, or the purpose of travel.
Officer notes can provide more detail than the letter itself. Reviewing them helps identify whether the issue was the evidence, the explanation, or eligibility itself.
Reapplying with the same information often leads to the same result. A careful review helps decide whether to reapply, strengthen the file, or consider a different pathway.
